Boca Grande Real Estate

Boca Grande, which is also known as Gasparilla Island is a 7-mile-long, approximately ½ mile wide barrier island known for its white sandy beaches, world class tarpon fishing and quaint old Florida quality of life.  From the main land of Placida, the island is reached by the brand new Boca Grande Causeway.  It is a daily occurrence to see dolphin swimming to the left and right of you while driving over the Boca Grande causeway onto the island. Just as common is a bald eagle nest above one of the trees that line the road or an osprey flying above you with its dinner being carried away. Once on the island, the world changes. Boca Grande does not have any traffic lights or chain stores and there is a 7-mile-long golf cart path which is the primary method of transportation once you are on the island. There are 3 State Park  public beaches with parking and an incredibly popular downtown village lined with shops and restaurants, many that date back to the early and mid-21st century including the historic Gasparilla Inn which  recently celebrated its 100th year in business. Most of the island is a mix of single family homes, condos and townhomes with a few remaining buildable lots for sale at any given time. The historic cottages that line Palm, Tarpon and Lee Ave are sought after as vacation homes from people all over the world. The avid fishermen prefer the canals of Waterways, Harbor Drive and the popular Dam Streets; Damfino, Damficare and Damfiwill. The north end consists of some of the nicest beachfront homes in all of Southwest Florida overlooking the Gulf of Mexico and on the Charlotte Harbor side of the island, large single family homes that face the ICW with mostly private boat docks. The Boca Grande Club on the north end is a gated beachfront and Bayfront community with amenities such as private beach, restaurant, 4 heated pools, fitness center and tennis.  The Boca Bay Pass Club offers many of the same amenities and is located on the south end of Boca Grande. There are also many single family homes just north and just south of the main village that are steps to either beach or bay access. Prices range from $350,000 to upwards of $10,000,000 with the majority of properties in Boca Grande selling for between $1,000,000 and $4,000,000.
